Il tipo 590 consiste in una pellicola in PVC-LD robusta e resistente allo strappo, rivestita su un lato con un adesivo in gomma naturale aggressivo e resistente all'invecchiamento. Il tipo 590 è impermeabile e resistente a freddo, umidità, oli, alcali, acidi e molti altri prodotti chimici. Ha l'approvazione VDE ed è ritardante di fiamma.

Il tipo 590 è usato per legare cavi, riparare e marcare cavi, così come per fissare cavi e altri materiali a tralicci, palchi, ecc.
