The XLR connector, or Cannon connector, is perhaps one of the best known and most commonly used electrical connections in the professional and high-end audio field. The name "Cannon" comes from the name of the original manufacturer: Cannon Electric. The XLR connector combines simplicity of construction with an effective locking system that makes it safe and easy to use, and it is because of these characteristics that it is so widely adopted.
