Il tipo 697 è un nastro in tessuto opaco e un'alternativa economica al tipo 691. È resistente all'acqua, aderisce bene su diverse superfici ed è facile da strappare a mano.

È usato specialmente per lavori sul palcoscenico e dietro le quinte nel teatro, nell'opera ecc. Si usa anche per il fissaggio temporaneo di cavi su tappeti ecc. e per marcare i pavimenti.
