Product Details
Digital film camera with bayonet for PL-type FF lenses. With a wide dynamic range, a newly developed low-pass filter, two CFexpress card slots and an Ethernet port for sharing files on Blackmagic Cloud, while simultaneously recording in 12-bit Blackmagic RAW, PYXIS 6K is the new reference point on the market.
24 x 46 mm 6K full frame sensor with native resolution of 6048 x 4032 pixels (24.6 Mpixel), 3 times larger than a Super 35 to be able to shoot with a shallow depth of field and to offer optimal performance in low light conditions. 13 f/stops of dynamic range and double native ISO up to 25,600 to guarantee the best image quality.
It shoots in all standard resolutions and frame rates, from HD to 4K DCI at 60 fps and even 6K and can be used as a very high quality digital camera! By setting the sensor to window mode, it can go up to 100 fps with 2112 x 1184 Super 16 pixels.
Using the full sensor area, you can record in 8 different aspect ratios, including open gate 3:2 and 6:5 anamorphic, without cropping, at much higher resolutions than other cameras using anamorphic lenses in 4832 x 4032 4.8K @ 24 fps., rather than in the classic Super 35 window mode. The high dynamic range, then, allows you to obtain a greater amount of detail in the brightest and darkest areas of the image compared to normal videocameras, with a wider color space larger than the DCI-P3 standard used in cinema!
For framing, the new video camera can be equipped with a Blackmagic URSA Cine Full HD OLED EVF, while for viewing all other information and replaying shots on set you can count on a large 4" HDR LCD display, touch type, clearly visible even in strong lighting conditions thanks to its 1500 nits.
Endless customization possibilities thanks to numerous accessories
Equipped with multiple mounting holes and side plates for accessories, the PYXIS 6K easily transforms into a tool tailored to the needs of every professional. Its compact camera body is made of CNC machined aeronautical aluminum, super solid, light and precise; it is so simple to mount on a wide range of rigs such as cranes, gimbals and drones. Several side plates allow you to attach a variety of accessories such as handles, microphones and even external SSDs.
The intelligent design of the Blackmagic PYXIS puts the most important functions such as ISO, white balance and shutter spped at your fingertips with touchscreen controls and physical buttons. You can then use the convenient scroll wheel to quickly adjust the settings and immediately access the commands with the three customizable function buttons without having to enter the menus and view them on a small screen.
The audio compartment includes internal microphones and professional audio inputs to connect an external microphone to mini-XLR with 48 V Phantom power to connect a professional microphone and a stereo microphone to 3.5 mm mini-jack. The internal microphones have minimal background noise and are anti-shock and windproof, for flawless audio capture, ideal for recording guide tracks on location. There is also an internal speaker to monitor the audio and a 3.5 mm mini-jack for headphones. With these connections you can use the microphones to record separate audio tracks without an external mixer.
Files format ideal for post-production
PYXIS uses the Blackmagic RAW format for complete control over detail, exposure and color in post-production. It also records HD H.264 proxies at the same time. The Blackmagic RAW format is highly optimized and multi-compatible even at a hardware level: the images will therefore have unprecedented resolution and quality!
Recording occurs on a pair of CFexpress cards or external drives via a 5Gb/s USB-C port. With such speed, simply open the CFexpress cards on your computer and directly start editing material on the DaVinci Resolve Studio software, which is included! This software boasts the renowned professional tools for editing, advanced color correction, audio post-production and visual effects with a single application.
The camera is based on Blackmagic OS, making it incredibly fast and intuitive. All functions operate independently and the turn-on time is instantaneous. Furthermore, it takes advantage of a built-in streaming engine that supports RTMP and SRT protocols.
There are two options for accessing the Internet: via Ethernet or using mobile data from a 4G or 5G phone. With built-in streaming, you can monitor streaming and data transfer activities on your viewfinder and LCD monitor. If you want to create a wireless connection instead with the studio, you can stream via a Blackmagic ATEM Streaming Bridge, a decoder that converts the H.264 signal back into video.
The Time Code input allows you to keep multicamera footage perfectly synchronized: just connect an external generator to the BNC input and the camera automatically locks to the detected Time Code. You can then start and stop recording on the various cameras and obtain footage with the same Time Code.
Another interesting possibility is given by wireless remote control via Bluetooth, which allows you to control the camera from a tablet if it is located in a difficult to access location, up to 9 m away. Simply download the Blackmagic Camera Control App on your iPad or use third-party Apps.
Finally, Blackmagic PYXIS is equipped with BP-U series batteries, easily available throughout the world and available in different capacities. The standard ones are the most powerful and allow you to shoot for over 3 hours on a single charge! For continuous power, a connector with a locking system is used to prevent disconnection during use.
