Blackmagic Design - Ultimatte Smart Remote 4 G2

The Ultimatte Smart Remote 4 G2 is a controller designed to manage up to eight Ultimatte 12 units in parallel via Ethernet, offering a fast, clear, and intuitive work interface. This new version has been redesigned to simplify production, maintaining the same operating philosophy as the previous model but with a more modern and optimized architecture.

At the heart of the device is a large 10.1" touchscreen display with 1280 x 800 resolution, allowing you to navigate menus and adjust settings as smoothly as a software panel, but with the reliability of dedicated hardware. Next to the screen, the control surface features physical buttons and knobs for precise adjustments to key parameters, while LED indicators intuitively indicate the status of connected devices, clearly distinguishing between Online and On Air modes.

The unit offers a complete set of updated connections:

• 2 rear USB-C 5 Gbps ports, for connecting a mouse, keyboard, or storage devices, useful for loading still images and saving or recalling presets

• 1 front USB-C port, which replicates the same functions and also allows connection to a Mac or Windows for updates and configuration via the Ultimatte Setup utility

• 1 HDMI output, ideal for connecting external monitors and providing flexible interface viewing.

Compared to previous models, the new Smart Remote 4 G2 no longer includes RS‑422 and VGA ports, adopting a completely modern connectivity. The system now runs Blackmagic OS, ensuring instant power on and more efficient management. It also supports the same Ultimatte Admin Utility used for Ultimatte units, eliminating the need for a separate installer.

The device is designed for easy integration into any production environment: it can be placed on an adjustable stand or rack mounted using the included mounting brackets. Power is supplied via a locking connector, the same one used on Video Assist, ensuring stability even in mobile environments.

The Smart Remote 4 G2 is compatible with current Ultimatte 12 models — Ultimatte 12 8K, 12 4K, 12 HD, and 12 HD Mini — without requiring additional firmware updates. The new SR4 units can coexist on the same network with previous models, simplifying integration into existing systems.

The rugged construction is suitable for professional use.
