Fiber extenders guarantee data speeds of up to 20 Gbps over very long distances. Signal transmissions based on copper cables have the limit of the distance they are able to cover. If a copper-based CATx solution is able to reach an average distance of 100 meters, systems based on optical fiber can instead cover several kilometers without data compression. The fiber cable is immune to any electrical interference and therefore represents an ideal solution for critical environments such as hospitals and industrial installations.
